Georgia State Railroad Museum-Savannah, Georgia
Southern Railway Coach Number 1207 is one of the few remaining “Jim Crow Era” passenger coaches with a partition intact. The coach was built in 1920 by the Pullman Car Company.

The separating door is 1/3 the way through with each end housing 22 seats. The basic rule of “Jim Crow” was separate but equal. But this was not always the case.

The Southern Railway was in service from 1894 until 1982.

The seats look generous and well padded. Can’t help but think about the cramped seats on today’s airplanes.
