Fish Haul Creek-Hilton Head Island South Carolina
You never know what you may come across on a beach walk. Somedays, I get lost in my thoughts from the sound of the waves. I walk until my aching feet remind me that it’s time rest. But on this day, the discomfort of aching feet was offset with the reward of stumbling upon this rusty relic. Since it is close to an old Civil War site and the ruins of a steam cannon I thought maybe it had some connection.
Setting off to the side of the Port Royal Sound on Fish Haul Creek is this large round thing. Surrounded by rocks, it was difficult to figure out exactly what it was used for. But since the crab baskets were next to it, my best guess would be some kind of an old fishing trap or possible a buoy.
That’s interesting ..looks like a cannon ball.
