Today we commemorate the 24th anniversary of the September 11the terrorist attack in New York City. The day started out as usual with a cup of coffee and the television tuned to the Today Show. When the first plane hit the tower it was a moment of disbelief like one that you ask yourself “is that real”? Yes, and only the beginning of a trail of events that stunned the world.

I have my 1985 brochure safely stored away along with personal family photos from the day of our tour. It was sunny, warm and clear, and the view was spectacular. Not for one second did danger cross our minds. We lifted our children up to see the most populous city in the country. A place where their ancestors had a vision of a better life for future generations. Tall buildings where folks could stand in the clouds.

The Memorial and Museum are part of the World Trade Complex in Southern Manhattan. It is one of the top visitor attractions in New York City.
