Henry Ford the great American industrialist scouted the Ogeechee River, and the Georgia Coast to purchase land. He and his wife Clara wished to build a winter home they could have privacy. To complete the task they sent an agents to the location to hide his identity. As they purchased massive tracts of land word started to spread in the rural community known as Ways Station.
Travelers along US Hwy 17 south of Savannah, today will be greeted by a sign saying “welcome to Richmond Hill a Henry Ford City”.
