Symbol of Bricktown’s History

Bricktown Canal Area-Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Inclined is a bronze, steel, and concrete sculpture located in the Bricktown Canal area of Oklahoma City. Artist David L. Phelps expresses the neighborhood’s history. The loading docks, railroads, and warehouses employed many, and it was once the main part of the city.

The sculpture exhibits a man partially below the ground pushing a sphere up a set of rails. His hand has a tight grip on the sphere, and the look on his face shows the struggles of a strenuous workplace.
