Promised Land-Port Wentworth Georgia
You can’t start the New Year without a touch of home grown South Georgia Collard Greens. The greens represent luck and money to come your way.

Pick your own fresh bunch of this southern tradition.

With the new awareness of the economic savings and nutritional benefits of having a vegetable garden the farm offers ” a rent a row’ option.

This family-owned farm offers hospitality, an annual “collard green” festival on the first Saturday in March, and hands-on cooks to teach visitors how to prepare the greens. Also during the festival seniors and disabled veterans are not charged for their greens.

During the Blessing of the collard greens ceremony in 2010 Pastor, Reverend Leo Burns said “Farming is a lot like life because the farmer lives by faith – faith that the seeds he plants and the soil he tends will eventually bring forth a bountiful harvest.” To see more photos and read about the community contributions of this farm click here for an article written by Savannah now.
Throw in a serving of “black-eyed peas” and you may find a pocket full of coins in those sofa cushions.
I 95 travelers exit Georgia 109 and it is 5 minutes to the farm.
Have a very Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year !
