Springfield Georgia

It’s a busy week for the Historic  Effingham Society as they prepare for the annual Olde Effingham Festival.  Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 13, 2019, starting at 9am and open until 5PM.  Located in Springfield at Pine and Early Street across from the Old Courthouse.   There is no charge for admission for a full day of fun.  Here are some of the events planned:

  • Springfield Garden Club Floral and Art Show from 11am-3PM
  • Food and Bake Sales
  • Craft Vendors
  • Musicians
  • Children’s activities
  • Tour the Effingham Museum with displays from pre-historic dates until 1960
  • Tour historic buildings and furnished homes
  • Visit the old jail

School houses are always a favorite especially if you get to ring the bell 🙂

Residents and visitors alike will take a step back in time, and enjoy unique events that are rich in history.

The living history site is open Monday-Friday 9am-1pm.  To plan a weekend visit please call 912-754-2170.  You will get a grand welcome from the staff that has an abundance of history for the Effingham County Georgia area.  Plan to spend some time, the stories are interesting.

Interstate 95 travelers get off at exit 109 and follow 21N to Springfield.
