Salt Marsh…Coastal Carolina and Georgia

It’s not  unusual to hear travelers passing through South Carolina and Georgia comment on the outdoor smell.  Some make a quick assumption that it is industry when in fact it is from a very natural resource the salt marsh.   Natural wildlife inhabited areas are open to walk through on trails and you will have a “spa like” feeling after a short period of time from the quiet peaceful environment.   So hop off the I95 when your nose starts to itch in the low country and pamper yourself to a free retreat.

Happy travels 🙂

Step back to the 1890’s at Fort Fremont on Lands End Road-Beaufort S Carolina

I don’t have a whole lot to say about this Fort except that it was rather spooky to me even in the afternoon.  It is located in Beaufort County  a coastal S Carolina county and this is on St. Helena island that has a wealth of culture,  marshland, wildlife and the after life.

For those who seek out the hauntings  you may want to take the 2 mile drive from Frogmore to Lands end in the evening, there is a mysterious light that has been known to chase vehicles.

I’m a beleiver because I felt the chills on a hot humid afternoon.  Also, I would not rate this Fort as family friendly, so keep the young and old nearby.

For a reference point this is located not far off the I 95 between Charleston S Carolina and Savannah Georgia.

Happy scary travels 🙂 If you want to taste the delicious local shrimp or Gumbo  I would suggest the Foolish Frog http://thefoolishfrog.com or any of the casual dining spots in the area….Low Country cooking…yummy

Beautiful Savannah Georgia

Savannah is the oldest city in the state of Georgia and is a relaxing vacation destination or a long weekend getaway.  You’ll enjoy just walking the beautiful streets of the historic district, city market and cobbled stone River Street.  The weather is pleasant October through May.  The summer is warm, but you can cool off at Tybee Island. Great restaurants especially if you like seafood!
