Bellowing Alligators: A Hilton Head Island Experience

Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

The loud rumbling sound made by an American alligator is called bellowing. It is used to attract mates and establish territory.

Visitors and residents of Coastal South Carolina often spot alligators especially near water. It’s unusual to actually hear them before you see them.

Once you hear it you won’t forget it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying the sites of Coastal Georgia and South Carolina.
