Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
The Philadelphia Mint is the first mint in the United States and was opened in 1792. The first building was located on Seventh Street, and was guarded by the newly established US Mint Police who are responsible for securing physical assets and safeguarding the US Mint employees.

The Philadelphia facility is now located on Independence Mall East in the heart of Center City. It is the largest coin factory in the world and has the ability to strike up 47,250 coins per minute when running at full capacity.
Visitors to the City of Philadelphia can take a self guided tour of the Mint. For more information click here
