Historic Savannah, Georgia
Troup Square is one of twenty-two squares in Savannah. Named after George McIntosh Troup, a Georgia governor and United States senator.

In the middle of the square, is an early astronomical device known as a armillary sphere. As stated in Britannica Encyclopedia “the sphere is a skeleton celestial globe”.

The bronze sculpture was designed in 1968. It is a replica of the ancient sphere. This sphere was used to model the movement of celestial objects in the sky.

The old world charm of Savannah makes it a top destination for visitors. The city’s unique layout in the historic district makes it easy to walk from landmark to landmark. Free shuttles and paid touring companies also offer convenient ways to get around.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying the sites of Coastal Georgia and South Carolina.
