I grew up in a mostly Italian neighborhood in Buffalo New York. It wasn’t unusual to see the” bocce” balls rolling in the community parks. Bocce is an Italian ball game that is played by two competing teams. The object is to roll a colored ball and get it as close as possible to the target ball. It’s a fun backyard game for all ages. Lines will be placed on the court to mark the halfway point and the standing point for the player. All balls must be thrown underhand and roll at least halfway.
The Sons of Italy Lodge #2780 renovated the courts located at St. Augustine Beach, Florida in 2014.
The courts are located on the south side of Pier Park and are open for public use.
