Historic Suspension Bridge-A Short Hike Down Barnyard Trail

Hillsborough River State Park-Thonotosassa, Florida

The bridge was built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It was rebuilt in the 1950’s are remains today as a footbridge over the river. The bridge is held up by anchors and cables and was sturdy to walk on.

“No swimming” signs are posted, and alligator caution signs for very good reason.

The bridge was built as an example of rustic architecture in harmony with the natural environment.

The park is located about 30 minutes from downtown Tampa. The recreational features available are camping, picnicking, swimming (where allowed), fishing, nature trails, boating and canoeing.

A great place to experience the wilderness.
