The Oregon Coast is located in the Cascade Subduction Zone and is capable of generating an earthquake at anytime. Both local and offshore disturbances of the sea surface can cause a tsunami.
For anyone living in an area of high risk for a natural disaster it is best to have an emergency plan in place. Driving the posted evacuation route ahead of time should be included. Knowing where and when to go is essential to stay out of harms way.
