Artist Larry Kangas displays a glimpse of the past on this mural in downtown Oregon City. The Oregon streetcars and trolleys were once a affordable and comfortable form of transportation throughout the state.
At one time Portland had the third largest streetcar system in the country. The nation’s first interurban electric rail service connected Portland to Oregon City.
Beautiful mural. Perth also had street cars in some of the older suburbs, but no longer in operation. I never got to see them, but we also have a mural with streetcars. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Alice.
