Burial in a National Cemetery
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Operates 155 national cemeteries in 42 states and Puerto Rico. Veterans, service members, spouses, and some family members may be eligible for a burial in a National Cemetery. Upon request a headstone or marker will be provided at no cost to the Veteran.

The legal name, date of birth and death, branch of service and section and a religious symbol are some of the inscriptions on the stone.
