The Gateway Arch is part of the Gateway Arch National Park. The arch commemorates the western expansion of the United States in the 19th century. It is the nations tallest monument at 630 feet tall.

The construction of the arch began in 1963 and was completed on October 28,1965. The stainless steel arch was designed by architect Eero Saarinen.
Visitors can enjoy the 1.6 mile paved trail that goes along the Mississippi River, around the grounds and under the arch.



The arch is embedded 60 feet into the ground.
