Downtown Orlando Florida
Walt Disney World was our planned destination on a recent visit to Orlando Florida. As we drove through downtown on Interstate 4, I thought about how many times we passed through but never took the time to visit the city. Having all the time we need to relax as retirees, we escaped into the heart of the historic area.
Taking the advice of trip advisor we decided to walk the Lake Eola Park trail around the lake. Just under 1 mile long, it offers a a host of birds, most notably the swans.

The lake is approximately 23 acres in size and results from a giant sinkhole with depths up to 80 feet.

The sidewalk is easy to walk and features monuments, sculptures, historic markers and sites along the way.

The city also rents out paddle boat swans for visitors to take in the beautiful wildlife and sites.

Here is the information plaque with the history of the lake.

Orlando Florida is a year round vacation destination, and is located in the heart of the Sunshine State. :)

That’s it! I’m going to give up walking and just paddle boat all over the lake. Thanks, Alice!
