Parris Island Marine Corp Recruit Depot-South Carolina
The Iwo Jima Monument on Parris Island erected in 1952. It is one-third the size of the famous monument of the raising of the flag by six soldiers atop Mount Suribachi, during the World War II battle of Iwo Jima in 1945.
The monument was designed by Felix de Weldon based on the photo by Press photographer Joe Rosenthal.




Parris Island is a designated South Carolina historical sited and has been training recruits since 1915.
