St. Helena Island at Port Royal Sound
There was no resisting a walk along the shore on a warm sunny day in December. Gaining access to a quiet stretch of beach from an old Spanish America fort, accompanied by two of my grandchildren, added up to a perfect day.

Saint Helena Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina, is surrounded by the beautiful waterways and marshes of the low country.

The kids always have a good time checking out the shells and driftwood.

And if you walk far enough, you may just catch a glimpse of a Palmetto Tree standing tall. Prominently displayed on the crown is a South Carolina State Flag awaiting the whiffle of the wind so it may wave proudly.

I hope you are enjoying the sites of Coastal Georgia and South Carolina. Saint Helena Island is minutes from the Historic District of the City of Beaufort.
