Fort Frederick Heritage Preserve-Port Royal
Fort Frederick over looking the Beaufort river is thought to be the oldest tabby structure in South Carolina. The six acre site recently opened to the public is located at 601 Old Fort Road.
Visitors can read the rich history on the information panels and enjoy the beauty of the natural habitat that surrounds the ruins.
The fort was listed on the National Register of historic places in 1974.
Picnic tables and parking are provided.
