Bavaria Germany-Maypole Tradition
The Maypole is a symbol to welcome the return of spring. It is traditional in the towns of southern Bavaria. The pole is a usually a fir tree (sometimes pine is used) is stripped of its branches except for the very top. The town decorates them in emblems, ribbons and flowers.
