Palomar Mountain Observatory


Located east of SanDiego on Palomar Mountain the observatory has been in operation for almost 100 years. Tours are available and walking trails surround the site.

Tour tickets are sold at the visitors center. The cost is $5.00 for adults.
Thousand of visitors come to the observatory each year and the most popular reason is to view the Hale Telescope.
Pets and children under five years old are not permitted on the guided tours.
The visitors center and gift shop is open daily.
And while you enjoy the interesting facts of the skies above, the view looking down is also spectacular.
The 200″ disk was made by Corning. Mostly known for their bakeware and dishes.
The facility is owned by Caltech and is in operation almost every clear night.
