Lunch in the Lowcountry

Beaufort South Carolina

A charming waterfront city with boutique shopping, dining, and year- round festivals for locals and visitors to enjoy.  It is located between Charleston South Carolina and Savannah Georgia, and is easily accessible to Interstate 95 travelers.  The historic district features homes with breeze catching front porches, and haint blue ceilings to keep the unwelcome away.

While touring this location a popular market and cafe named ” Lowcountry Produce” located at 302 Carteret in the downtown area is a favorite.  It is located in the “Old City Hall” and is both a market and a restaurant.

Local produce, meats, desserts, wine, arts, and crafts are sold in the market area.  Favorite local dishes such as shrimp and grits or crab cakes are served in the restaurant.

The high ceilings makes for a bright airy atmosphere and the unique wood trimmings and front door offer an expression of a true southern welcome.

Metered parking is along Carteret Street and it is close enough to walk to Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks to Norm for hosting Thursday Doors

  1. It is lovely when an old building is re-purposed and becomes alive again with activity and people, else the building becomes derelict and unused, which can be a shame. Love the tour of it and am sure it serves lovely meals.
