Springfield Georgia-Seat of Effingham County Georgia
Located along the Savannah River north of the City of Savannah is Effingham County. Today the community is vibrant and serves as an extension of the metro area of Savannah. With a rich history and the preservation of many structures, it offers visitors a peek into the past. Today we’ll take a look at the Historic Courthouse built in 1908. A new courthouse serves the community today as a judicial complex while the historic building still houses other administrative offices. The courtroom has also been used in movies, one being “The Gift” released in 2001.

The courtroom now appears silent, but I can only imagine some of the drama that went on when the seats were filled with witnesses, defendants. and lawyers
