Beliefs and rituals are often acts performed by folks for religious or traditional reasons. Two examples are:
The placing of a small rock on a tombstone

One of the reasons you may see this is that the visitor leaves the stone or rock as a gesture of respect for the deceased. It lets others know they have not been forgotten by their loved ones. They are also placed by some after prayers are said at a grave.
A rock altar

You may notice walking along a river bed or in the woods a stack of rocks. The largest on the bottom, balancing smaller rocks stacked towards the top. This may indicate an altar where the builder designated each of the rocks for specific thoughts and prayers.
Thanks for stopping by, please feel free to share some of your traditions.

Interesting. I have seen a lot of rocks stacked up like this more recently but I had no idea what they were!
Well now ya know 🙂
