Before we take our walk on the grounds of the Penn Center on St. Helena Island I would like to take a minute to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“The time is always right to do what is right” (1965)
I made a quick stop in Frogmore, a small area of the island that offers dining, lodging, shopping, and a community park where the monument is located.
My next stop was the Penn Center, here is a photo of the information card in the welcome center. You can also purchase regional cookbooks featuring Gullah recipes, and locally made hand weaved baskets in the center.
Since the weather was warm and sunny I decided to walk the grounds and take a pass on the indoor museum.
