Years of tears

“Get over it”, that’s what they tell you

Recovery for me was accepting that I would not “get over it” but I would find a way to live and be happy again

“It won’t be this way forever”, that’s what they tell you

Recovery for me was learning patience because time will make a difference

“If we thought we would owe you for the rest of our life, we would have done things differently”, that’s what they tell you

Recovery for me was recognizing that I am the better person because I would do everything the same even if I knew the pain that was coming because it made the lives of others better

“There’s nothing you can do about it”, that’s what they tell you

Recovery for me is knowing there are things I can do but am not selfish

“You have no rights as a grandparent”, that’s what they tell you

Grandparents may not have legal rights, but they have love rights and play a vital role in the foundation of the family.

My broken heart continues to beat but has a different rhythm.  As time passes, the fog lifts, I once again see and feel the warm rays of the sun that shine upon me.

My Mom always said “life would not be easy”
