As a child, I celebrated my birthday each year having a party with school friends and family. Being very shy, I worried so much that I would have to sing to everyone present how old I was at the end of the “happy birthday” song.
When all the guests are seated at a table for cake and ice cream you have their full attention. I purposely counted the candles aloud so there would not be a reason for me to publicly sing “I’m ten years old” repeatedly after they finished singing. It worked every time and with a sigh of relief, I closed my eyes, made a wish, and blew the candles out.
