 Wreaths Across America Day-December 15, 2018

From the official Wreaths Across America webpage:

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad.

Join us by sponsoring a veterans’ wreath at a cemetery near you, volunteering or donating to a local fundraising group.

This year will mark my fifth year of volunteer service at the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Beaufort National Cemetery in South Carolina.  It has been an honor to work with the location coordinator to plan the ceremony and assist with marketing and fundraising for this event.  The wreaths come out of Worcester Maine and volunteers offer their trucks to transport the wreaths throughout the country.  Many groups such as the Patriot Riders escort the trucks to local points where they are stored until the morning of the ceremony. Local communities along the route also hold events to welcome the Wreaths through as they pass through.

Pepsi of Beaufort has offered their facility and takes over from the national escort.  Volunteers transfer the boxes of wreaths into a large Pepsi truck or two.
