Old Sheldon Church-

Formerly known as Prince Williams Parish Church built 1751-1757

On a picturesque country road in the Low Country of South Carolina sits the ruins of a historic church.   The site is privately owned  today by the Parish of Saint Helena, Beaufort South Carolina.  Its spiritual legacy dates back to 1745.

The site is open to visitors a parking area is directly across the road

As I walked the grounds I found myself in a moment of reflection of my own life. With the history of the church and the hard times it had seen, I quickly felt humbled to be among the good souls who are laid to rest here.

Large oaks, moss, and ferns protect what remains. For over 260 years these sacred grounds are still being watched over.
