Attic Trophy

Attic Trophy Sculpture
Attic Trophy displayed at Harbor Town, S Carolina

The Attic Trophy sculpture by Seward Johnson quickly caught the attention of these two young folks at Harbor Town in South Carolina.  Luckily they were accompanied by a “baby boomer”, that had a few twisted ankles, from practicing twirling and balance. “Hooping” was mostly done around the waist but the neck, knees arms, ankles were all challenged.

The Hula Hoop was introduced in the USA in 1958. It was made of lightweight plastic and sold for less than $2.00.  Sales exceeded 24 million.

The craze didn’t stop there.  Hula hoop dance classes, exercise moves and music followed.

Today for less than $20 you can buy a Hula Hoop, an elastic bandage, and hours of fun.
