Portland, Oregon

In 1914, London- born Oregonian publisher Henry Pittock and his wife Georgiana Burton Pittock built a 46 room estate in the West Hills of Portland. The windows of the mansion offer 180 degree view of Portland, the Willamette River, and the Cascade peaks.

The home is now owned by the City of Portland and 23 rooms are open for visitors to tour. It is furnished with antiques, and is a remarkable style of architecture that left no room to “cut corners”.

Luckily my visit was on a clear day, and the view was amazing. You can see snow capped Mt. Hood over looking the city.
