“Hollywood of the South”
Thirty five miles northwest of downtown Atlanta is the city of Covington. The downtown area graces itself with Victorian architecture and many 19th and early 20th century structures exist. The clock tower is part of the Newton County courthouse and is highly recognized from the popular television show “The Vampire Diaries”. On the show the town is named Mystic Falls.

October offers mild temperatures to walk around the town square and check out the areas walk of fame.

The store windows are fun to look at and the overall flair of the town is very artistic.

And with all its fame of course the local history still remains. Covington Square is along General Shermans “March to the sea”, during the American Civil War.

Drop by the Welcome Center for a guide locating popular film sites.

Over 140 movies and television shows have been filmed in Covington. Some of the most known are:
The Vampire Diaries
The Dukes of Hazzard
Sweet Magnolias
In The Heat Of The Night
The Cannonball Run
On the main road entering the city is a large mural that highlights some of Covingtons fame.
