Fortunato Park-Ormond Beach Florida
Last week I took a three day break relaxing in Ormond Beach Florida. Not many things lift a mood like the warmth of Florida’s sunshine. Located in Central Florida, I best describe it as the quiet side of Daytona. A cultural and art center, museums, lodging and dining options are easily accessible to the ocean.
One evening, I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Hull’s Seafood. Afterwards, I thought that a walk in the park would be timely.
The waiter suggested a nearby park with a historic significance. Fortunato Park is on the Halifax River and just east of the Granada Bridge. The cupola that was once the top of the 1888 Ormond Hotel has been preserved. When the world famous hotel was demolished in 1992, it was moved to the park.
The walking and bike trail is along the Halifax River, that is part of the Atlantic Inter-coastal Waterways.
Memorial benches are along the way, and if you keep your eyes on the water you will see the dolphins.
The Florida Historical Marker sits close to the cupola, telling the story of the famous hotel.
As the sun began to set it was time to snap of few photos with the gold sky.
Thanks for walking along and I hope you are enjoying the sites of Florida. 🙂
