The neoclassical style courthouse was built in 1905. It has been used as background in several television shows and film projects. Some of those include Goosebumps, I’ll Fly Away, Halloween II, Guardians of the Galaxy, and American Made with Tom Cruise.

World War 1 Soldier

The stone statue is located in front of the Morgan County Courthouse, across the intersection of Hancock and E. Jefferson Streets. Designed in stone as “The Spirit of the American Doughboy” it honors the Veterans and Casualties of World War I.

The “Doughboys” statues can be found in 39 US states. The statues have the soldier holding a rifle low in the left hand. The right hand is raised high with a grenade.

The original pressed copper sculpture was completed in 1921 by E.M. Viquesney who lived in America’s, Georgia. The Sculpture is located in Nashville Georgia.

The Courthouse presents a prominent domed clock tower. The civic building is open to visitors when court is not in session.
