The Rare Wollemi Pine and Spectacular Trails At Hoyt Arboretum

Washington Park-Portland, Oregon

A perfect way to begin a first time walk in an unfamiliar park is to stop by the Visitor Center. In most cases a trained staff person is available to get you on your way safely. Maps, warnings, restrooms, snacks, and souvenirs provide an excellent starting and end point.

Free paper maps are available, but visitors are encourage to save a tree and use a digital map.

The center also offered a preview of the museum of trees trail enthusiasts are about to see along the 12 miles of trails.

The Wollemi Pine-

Fewer than 100 known adults exist in three remote canyons near Sydney, Australia. It is a living fossil with leaves like plants from the Jurassic period.
