Portland, Oregon
Last Saturday I had to make an airport run to pick my Grandson up from Portland International. I left a few hours earlier than needed to take a detour into the downtown area. My plan was to park in a Smart Park garage, find a place for lunch, and explore the shopping and architecture. It surely was easy enough to do this with the sidewalk circles guiding the way. You can use the app or scan the QR code.

I found it interesting to walk around and see the old and the new come together in a lively urban area.

Jakes Grill located at 611 SW 10th Avenue is in the historic Sentinel Building.

Powell’s City of Books is the world’s largest independent book store. Visitors enjoy this new and used store that fills a city block.

The downtown area also takes pride in the works of street artists. There are many murals both faded and new to enjoy.

Walking is for me, but others may choose to ride.

It is my first choice to ride the Tri Met light rail into the city of Portland, and that’s because it saves on both the cost and hassle of parking.
I hope you enjoyed the city sites, soon enough I will be back to Coastal Georgia.

I was born in Portland Memorial Hospital (which I believe no longer exists, as we couldn’t find it last time we visited) I was young when we we moved, but lived in the area for many years. I enjoy seeing your photos!
