Winter Wildlife

Jarvis Creek Park-Hilton Head Island South Carolina

One week away from Christmas and Coastal South Carolina is holding on to mild spring like weather. Even the wildlife that usually are hiding away in the winter seem to be staking claim of the lake.

I stood on the deck and noticed what at first I thought was a log, then realized it was an alligator. My guess is that it is about 10-11 foot long. I have been told that if you measure the inches between the center of the eyes and the tip of the snout and multiply it by 10, that gives an estimate of size.

I’m so glad I took this spur of the moment walk, although I didn’t have my camera the cell phone came in handy.

Have a happy day 🙂
