Facing History

Upstanders Mural-Memphis Tennessee

1 Block from the National Civil Rights Museum

“Facing History and Ourselves uses lessons of history to challenge teachers and their students to stand up to bigotry and hate. In 2016 through a community engagement process, we commissioned The Upstanders in Memphis History Mural to share stories of extraordinary Memphians who embraced the challenge to speak out, stand up for others, and make decisions that have helped to create a more inclusive, just, and compassionate Memphis.”

  1. Nice mural to honour all those people who fought so we could all benefit from more freedom and rights.
