Most folks would agree that in a “big country” like the USA there are many issues that we like to agree to disagree on. Some make big news and hang around while we stayed glued to the story, some are exaggerated, some are considered “fake news”, and some just will make you really hungry for a chicken sandwich and waffle fries.
Chick Fil A is a fast food restaurant chain that most would agree has the best chicken sandwich ever. Some folks even refer to it as “God’s chicken”.
The founder has very strong religious beliefs and all stores are closed on Sunday, which is favored by the employees. The first store was located in Atlanta Georgia at the Greenbriar Mall in 1967. The first free-standing store opened in 1986 and Chick Fil A today is one of the nations largest privately owned restaurant chains.
But besides the chicken sandwich, sweet tea and lemonade here are more headlines that made this restaurant popular last week.
In an outlying community of Savannah Georgia, a new restaurant was scheduled to open on March 28th at 6 AM. Customers set up their tents the night before to camp out in the parking lot. When a new restaurant opens the first 100 customers get a card for a “meal a week free” for one year.
The local Sheriff’s Department posted a traffic alert on its Facebook page to remind morning commuters of possible delays due to the drive-thru line backing up into the highway. 
The local high school band played at the ribbon cutting, while the Chamber of Commerce gave a warm welcome.
The long lines continued for days, not only because the food is delicious but as an expression of gratitude from the community happy to have them.
During the same celebratory week, a Chick Fil A planning to open in Buffalo New York was turned away because some allege the company is involved with “anti-LGBTQ rhetoric.
I am not one to rally on either side of a political issue but my level headed mind tells me that many people probably would like to have this restaurant option, especially in an airport. And for those who may not feel comfortable patronizing a store for any reason what so ever, I’m sure they will simply choose to eat elsewhere.
So while the legal eagles fight to decide who has more rights I’ll just keep ordering the Frosted Key Lime Milkshake. 🙂
