The Where’s George Project

There’s something good to be said about a person if their name is still traveling around the world two hundred and twenty years past their death.  Preparing for my daily walk yesterday, I grabbed a few dollar bills from my handbag, so that I could put them in my pocket along with my keys. As I was separating them I noticed a red heart stamped on one.  Taking a closer look I realized I had a bill that was entered into a currency tracking project.

Here’s a closer look:

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play along if the website seemed to be on the up and up.

After reading about the site that launched in 1998 I entered my bill.   I will register and follow my heart before I say good-bye to George Washington.

Following instruction, I entered the location of the bill. I also added where I got it from, and the condition.  The registration before mine was done in New Jersey,  so the dollar traveled six hundred and eighty-nine miles to find me.

Soon this one dollar bill will get back into circulation.  Perhaps, if it were a Benjamin Franklin, it may end up in the piggy bank with the rainy day savings.

As for today’s walk, it was a perfect spring day in the Low Country of South Carolina.
