South of Jacksonville, Florida and off of the St. John’s River
Traveling through Florida I never miss the opportunity to get a bite to eat at Whitey’s fish camp. Located approximated 5 miles off US 17 in Fleming Island Florida. It was just about 2PM when we arrived, and we were seated immediately. The camp offers a lunch and dinner menu.
About Whitey’s Fish Camp
Whitey’s Fish Camp in 1963 while Whitey was employed in the U.S. Navy. The original fish camp consisted of a tackle shop with nine bar stools, a toaster oven, soft drinks, beer, & sandwiches.
This is a one-stop shop for RV’s, boaters, fishing, food, and events. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is casual, and indoor and outdoor seating is available.

After lunch we took a few minutes to walk out on the decks. Years ago we would take a small boat out onto the lake in the evening. It gets a little “sqeamish” when you see the red eyes looking at you so I’ve quit that adventure.
Of course, I always have an eye out, looking for Cee’s flower of the day, but today getting “close up” was a risky option.
Bee Happy 🐝…..try the fresh fish taco’s…and keep in mind that if you exit the interstates the scenery and cool places are endless.
lol a very detailed ‘close up’ of an unusual place … red eyes, I’d stay clear too 🙂
Looks like paradise! Wish I were there right now!
Looks like you picked a beautiful day to visit this place.
